Baltimore Real Estate

Our strong reputation for integrity and professionalism is well-known in Baltimore. Stop by one of our 30+ offices today and tell us how we can help you find a new home in Baltimore.

Baltimore is truly an American success story. Since the redevelopment of the Inner Harbor in the late 1970s, Baltimore has set the standard for urban renewal and is now a major travel destination welcoming nearly 13 million business and leisure visitors each year. It is also an ideal place to live and thousands of families interested in a high quality of life and a fine place to raise a family come to Baltimore every year.

Baltimore is the 12th largest city in the United States and is named "Charm City" for its residents’ well-established concern for quality of life in this vibrant city. Long considered a southern town, Baltimore owed much of its early growth and prosperity to its desirable location. It lay farther west than any other major Atlantic port, endearing its harbor to shippers. Baltimore now ranks fifth among United States ports, with major railways and trucking lines carrying cargoes to and from docks at Canton Bay and Curtis Bay, as well as raw materials to the city's many factories.

The crown jewel of Baltimore is the Inner Harbor, a scenic and popular waterfront area with dozens of retail stores, restaurants and attractions. Since the 1600s, the Inner Harbor has been welcoming people, ships and goods from all over the world.

Baltimore plays host to several festivals and events year-round. One of its major tourist attractions is the Preakness, a segment of the horse racing Triple Crown. This event takes place in May and draws a huge crowd. The city holds many waterfront and neighborhood festivals during the summer as well, including Artscape, a three-day event honoring the arts.

Baltimore's economy and cultural life, in addition to its geography, influenced its local development. Baltimoreans tend to have roots in clearly identified neighborhoods, and this sense of local identification has helped counter the alienation associated with modern city life.

Baltimore’s growth is continuing unabated in the 21st century. Development is moving both east and west of the Inner Harbor with more projects on the way.

Homes in Southern Maryland
Long & Foster’s outstanding reputation for integrity and financial strength goes a long way, and Southern Maryland is no exception. We have more than 10 sales offices in Southern Maryland. So Long & Foster is THE real estate firm to rely on in this lovely, peaceful region of the Free State.

Southern Maryland is where Maryland's history began in 1634 when 140 brave colonists established the fourth permanent settlement in British North America. As time passed, native woodland trails gave way to the rolling roads of tobacco plantations, and square-riggers gave way to steamboats and skipjacks. Today, Southern Maryland's unique past is richly preserved in its numerous historic sites, museums, and rural scenic byways.

Beyond history, Southern Maryland is a natural wonderland, with fossil-filled cliffs and sculpted sandy beaches, lighthouses standing watch over limitless waters and an American Heritage River teeming with largemouth and striped bass. There are great opportunities await for boating, hiking, biking and sampling the bounty of land and sea.

Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore is the northern half of the 100 mile Delmarva Peninsula separating the Chesapeake Bay from the Atlantic Ocean, due east from Washington, D.C.

Nestled between the Chesapeake Bay in the west and Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean in the east, the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware is strongly influenced by the water surrounding it. Lovely beaches, fresh seafood, boating, fishing and wildlife watching are all things to be enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.

The Eastern Shore features hundreds of miles of Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay shoreline that provide a wealth of recreational opportunities for beach-lovers, fishermen, and boaters.

Outdoor activities abound at the Eastern Shore. For the less outdoorsy, plenty of shopping can be found in the Shore’s wide selection of quaint towns and charming historic districts.

One of the Eastern Shore’s biggest attractions is Ocean City, Maryland. With 10 miles of lovely sandy beaches and beautiful views of both ocean and bay waters, Ocean City is a wonderful place for vacations or to call home.

Ocean City was founded in 1875 as a small fishing village. Over the last century, it has made a gradual transformation into one of the most popular vacation destinations on the East Coast. Over the years, many families have become part of the Ocean City tradition, coming back year after year just as their parents and grandparents before.

Ocean City is a year-round resort celebrating events and festivals all throughout the calendar. Water sports and fishing have always been popular attractions, with hundreds of square miles of water to enjoy. Visit the newly renovated world-famous, three-mile Boardwalk and browse the many shops and sample the foods in the eateries along the way.
